Our Heart

WestMOUNT Church exists to glorify God by making disciples who love God and love people.

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

Matthew 22:36-39

Loving God

Worship and teaching God's word are foundational for any church. Paul charges Timothy to preach the word. (2Tim 4:1-2) Also, the disciples knew the priority of the ministry of the word and kept it as such. (Acts 6:2, Acts 2:42) Jesus' prayer for us is that we would know God the Father and His son (John 17:3). It's once we know Him that we love Him. When we understand His love and the true work of redemption, then we are drawn to respond with all we are and all we have. Worship then flows as a life offering, full of the Spirit and truth as God desires. From this comes a desired prayer life of communication to our Father. Seeking God's will for the missional direction for the church and a dependence on His power to accomplish it is the biblical pattern for the church. (1 Corinthians 2:3-5) We offer ourselves as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1) to God in service and in becoming more Christ-like. This is our primary call.

Loving Others

Loving the people God has placed around us was a hallmark of the early church. (Acts 4:32-34) Our love is a powerful witness to even those outside the body. We are called to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) and I believe that this happens best through sincere, loving relationships that shine as a light to the world. As one body in the power of the Spirit we lovingly reach to those who are lost, sick, poor and hungry, declaring and administering, the love of God.
